Reporting to the Directors of the Rural Team, and under their supervision, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the Rural accountant team consisting of trainee, qualified, and senior accountants.
- Managing your own client portfolio, conducting client work in a variety of areas within accounting, tax, and commercial/business advice.
- Liaising with new and existing partners and clients to drive company growth and develop the rural team client portfolio.
Knowledge and previous experience of working with, or a desire to learn about, the rural, farming, and agricultural industry would be particularly advantageous in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day needs of your own client portfolio, including being the first point of contact and, when necessary, attending meetings.
- Plan, carry out and review client work in a variety of areas within accounting, tax and commercial/business advice
- Handle client queries and proactively, advise them on a wide range of financial and commercial matters
- Share in staff management and development responsibilities for the junior members of the team
- Deliver excellent client service
- Organise own time and workload efficiently
- Carry out adhoc exercises such as investigations, due diligence and financial projections
- Take an active role in practice development
Qualifications:
Relevant recognised professional accounting qualification, preferably ACCA, ACA, or ICAEW (or equivalent).
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience using accountancy software.
- Comfortable and confident networking with new and existing partners and clients.
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly when required.
- Ability to use initiative to drive company and individual performance.
- Passion to develop and progress professionally.
- Be a departmental leader who supports and encourages their team to succeed.
- Minimum of 2-3 years post qualification practice experience.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience, ideally within a financial or accountancy environment.
- A high standard of ethics, both professional and personal.
- Keen to work in an individual performance driven business (and be awarded accordingly).
- Able to work well in a successful and busy team.
- Good organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
